Warren B. Hudson, President


Mr. Hudson brings over 22 years of electrical construction experience to the L J Electrical Company executive team, holding unlimited Electrical license in multiple states. As the President of L J Electrical Company Mr. Hudson oversees the entire daily operation of the company from the Preconstruction Dept. to the Operations and Accounting staff.  Mr. Hudson prides himself on maintaining the core values of Integrity, fairness and willingess to work hard for each of our customers.  Originally from Pikeville, Kentucky, Mr. Hudson has made his home in Eastern, NC after moving here as a child.  Bringing leadership to not only the company, Mr. Hudson is also active in his community serving on several membership boards that help improve the communities around Eastern, NC.  His passion for the industry and growth of future tradesman has been a major driving force of his success throughout his career.  Mr. Hudson has extensive knowledge in the Federal Design/Build arena serving as the lead on multiple large scale projects throughout North & South Carolina.  Mr. Hudson continues to believe that through hard work and dedication anyone can achieve success in this industry.  His belief that a great leader must recognize individual talent and foster an atmosphere of growth for those talents has been instrumental in the success of L J Electrical Company.  I’m very proud to be a part of this company’s overall philosophy and vision as we continue to strive to be the best in the Electrical Industry.

Corporate Office Leadership

Timothy Rhodes, Project Manager


Tim has worked in the Electrical Industry since 1984, where he worked his way through the ranks and is now a Project Manager.  He’s responsible for all aspects of the project in the construction phase from Pre-Construction through close-out. Part of his day-to-day duties include being held accountable for a successful and profitable project, maintaining good customer relationships, and financially managing each job. Tim has been a part of the LJ team since 2015 and currently serves as the Senior Project Manager of the Kinston Branch. He also holds a N.C. Unlimited Contractor License.

Shane Hiben, Operations Manager


Shane has been in the electrical construction business for more than a decade. Starting as an apprentice in the field, he has filled various roles and has completed the Estimating Apprenticeship program, where he earned a certificate from the North Carolina Department of Labor. Over the course of his tenure here at LJ Electrical,  he has worked on both the pre-construction and operations side of the company. He is currently serving as Operations Manager.

Wes Cannon, Vice President Utility Division


Mr. Cannon grew up in a family connected to the industry.  As a teenager, Wes started working in the Telecom field after school and during his summer breaks. Today his part-time job has become a full-time career.  With more than 20 years of experience and broad knowledge of installation methods and technical aspects covering the Telecommunications Industry, he manages our Corning NPI program and our BICSI Membership, holding multiple certifications from both organizations.  His detailed knowledge of the utility side of the industry allows him to train and lead our various utility crews in projects ranging from Directional Drilling and Manhole and Ductbank Installations to Cable Plowing, Cable Pulling and Fiber Blowing. 

Curt Ervin, Senior Estimator


Curt began working in the electrical business over 40 years ago. Curt has been with LJ for over 5 years and currently serves as the Senior Estimator of the Kinston Division. His ability to maintain professionalism, integrity, and ethics sets him apart in the estimating and bidding process. A few of Curt’s duties include preparing bids for our Kinston office, maintain estimating database for pricing, assembly set up, and maintaining the bid schedule.

Alan Sparks, Preconstruction Manager


Alan started his electrical career in the US Navy as a Nuclear Electrical Operator. He has been in the electrical construction business for 31 years. He started as an apprentice in the field and worked his way up through the ranks. He has worked in the office for 13 years as an Electrical Apprentice Instructor, Estimator, Project Manager, and now is the Preconstruction and IT Manager for L.J. Construction.  His duties include coordinating estimates for large projects and working with general contractors and subcontractors on Design Build projects. He has an unlimited electrical license in North Carolina and is thoroughly knowledgeable in all aspects of electrical construction.

Emily Ortiz, Project Manager


Emily has over 17 years of experience in the construction industry to include 11 years as a Project Manager in General Contracting and 6 years as an Electrical Project Manager. She is responsible for all aspects of the project in the construction phase from buyout through close-out. Part of her daily duties include being held accountable for a successful and profitable project, maintaining good customer relationships, and financially managing each job. Emily has managed projects on multiple military installations with the Army Corps and NAFVAC and is well-versed in the FAR and other military regulations. She also holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Clemson University.

Brian Smith, Chief Estimator


Brian has been in the electrical construction business for over 20 years, starting in the field as an apprentice.  For the past 15 years, he has been an estimator and chief estimator.  Brian’s main focus has been in the public bid market in this area he has excelled at bidding and negotiating projects from small office upfits to multi million dollar schools and hospitals.  Brian joined LJ Electrical Company in 2018 and is currently the Chief Estimator for the Kinston Office.

Raleigh Office Leadership

Michael Pierce, Operations Manager 


Michael has been in the electrical industry for over 24 years. He began as an Apprentice and has worked his way through the ranks at various companies filling the positions of Electrician, Foreman, Estimator, Project Manager, and Senior Project Manager. Michael has successfully managed multiple projects simultaneously ranging from $25k to $6mil while holding the position of Project Manager. He joined the LJ team in 2016 as Senior Project Manager and was promoted to Branch Manager when the Raleigh Division was established in late 2017. Michael is involved in the apprenticeship program and holds an unlimited electrical contractor’s license.

Richard Franck, Project Manager 


Richard has been in the construction business for 14 years with a primary focus in project management & business development. Prior to joining LJ Electrical Company in 2018, Richard managed a diverse range of project deployments including commercial office, high-rise, residential, multifamily, pharmacutical, industrial, healthcare, education, government, and data centers. Accomplished at working in a fast paced, high volume enviroment, providing direction & leadership skills that drive projects to completion on schedule & in budget. Richard is experianced in communicating across diverse departments and disciplines to ensure requirements of assignments & adherence to processes meet the highest possible standards of quility & safety.

Joe Rouse, Chief Estimator


Joe has been in the construction industry for over 26 years. He joined the LJ team in late 2017, but has a verifiable track record for the successful completion of multi-million dollar contracts through coordinating trades, developing partnerships, and building positive rapport with architects, engineers, vendors and clients while maintaining costs. Joe is well versed in estimating, contract negotiations, material purchasing, and site management through certificate of occupancy.

Mike Walton, Estimator


Mike has been in the electrical construction field for the past 27 years. he started his career as a helper & worked his way up through the positions of electrician, electrical supervisor & is currently an estimator in the Raleigh Office. He joined LJ Electrical Company in 2014 where he supervised various projects on Camp Lejeune Marine Corp Base ranging in size from one to five million dollars. He was promoted to electrical estimator in 2018 & transfered to the Raleigh division. Mike holds an unlimited NC electrical contractors license and an IBEW Journeymans card.
